I've seen TONS of controversy about installing bamboo in basement. I always thought that strand woven would work in average humidity but one of my colleagues told me that they have seen strand woven explode in a basement. What is your experience with this??

RE: bamboo in basement
Here is my personal opinion. I don't recommend it in the basement, but I have had customers that have their heart set on it. In this case, I ask that they choose a strand woven bamboo as it is the most dimensionally stable. When installing I use a moisture barrier. I educate my customers on the importance of controlling humidity and give them a device that will measure this for them. My customers are well aware that they will have responsibilities to maintain their bamboo floors after I leave.
