Odell, the tools needed will depend on the problem with the carpet seam. If it is simply irregular nap then nap shears will likely do the job for you. If some tufts are bent over in the seam into the hot melt tape then you will have to take the seam apart and re-do it. This will require a seaming iron and new seam tape. It will also require removing the carpet from the tack strip and re-stretching the carpet after the new seam has cooled.
